Clinical Enhanced Rehabilitation and Brain Recovery Advancements (CEREBRA) – Susanne Palmcrantz's research group

Our research spans mechanisms, medical technology, treatment, and implementation, with the overall aim of improving rehabilitation after acquired brain injury. We investigate factors underlying recovery, develop and evaluate innovative technologies for the assessment and treatment of motor impairments, examine the effectiveness of novel rehabilitation interventions, and facilitate the implementation of research findings into evidence-based clinical practice.

The group’s research focuses on four main areas:

  1. Mechanisms: focusing on injury localization, plasticity and neuromuscular functions and how these are associated and can predict the course of recovery after acquired brain injury.
  2. Medical technologies: development and testing of new medical technologies for assessment and treatment of motor impairment after acquired brain injury.
  3. Treatment: evaluation of the effects of using new clinical methods for the rehabilitation of motor impairments after acquired brain injury.
  4. Implementation: communication of results and facilitation of implementation in clinical practice.
