Our research
Our research focuses on chronic inflammatory diseases and methodological development in clinical epidemiology. Motivated by the value our studies can provide for people living with rheumatic or neurological diseases, we work closely with clinical experts and see it as our responsibility to identify and apply the most appropriate methodological tools to maximize the impact and usefulness of each research project.
The research group conducts studies across several areas. Our epidemiological projects aim to advance understanding of disease causes, progression, and consequences, as well as to describe changes in patient populations over time. We also carry out clinically oriented studies to identify prognostic markers, evaluate the safety and effectiveness of treatments, and support clinical decision-making. In addition, we conduct methodological research focused on the validation of data sources, causal inference, and the development and evaluation of statistical methods.
The group is also actively engaged in teaching and supervision, primarily at the doctoral level. While our main applications have been in multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and spondyloarthritis, the methods we develop and apply are relevant to research on a wide range of chronic diseases.
