Molecular mechanisms of drug action – Shane Wright's team

We study G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), the target of 36% of all FDA-approved drugs, and aim to understand their role in health and disease as well as the ligands/drugs that modulate their activity. Underutilized and unexplored concepts in receptor pharmacology like functional selectivity, location and kinetic bias, sex differences and aging may hold the key to developing more targeted therapeutics with better safety profiles.
