Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery
Our research focuses on common diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract that are treated at Danderyd Hospital, as well as the outcomes of treatments for these conditions. For many of these diseases, Danderyd Hospital treats the highest number of patients in the country. For instance, around 800 gallstone surgeries are performed at the hospital annually, we carry out advanced hernia operations assisted by robotic technology, have a long-standing tradition of surgical treatment for obesity, and were among the first in Sweden to treat tumours in the liver, kidney, and lungs using ablation techniques. This allows us to evaluate treatment outcomes in collaboration with other national and international partners.
