Pontus Aspenström, Molecular Cell Biology
Pontus Aspenström's research focuses upon identifying new members of the Rho GTPases, signal proteins that regulate cell migration. There are indications that Rho GTPases are also involved in metastasizing in conjunction with cancer.
Randall S. Johnson, Molecular Biology and Oxygen Physiology
Hypoxia is a medical condition that results in body tissues being deprived of adequate oxygen supply. The deficiency of oxygen is included as part of all diseases, not at least cancer. Randall S. Johnson studies the cellular mechanisms in conjunction with tumour growth.
Miia Kivipelto, Clinical Geriatric Epidemiology
With an increasing number of elderly in the population dementia is expected to increase. There is still no cure available. Population studies with around 30 years follow-up show that it might be possible to reduce the risk for dementia in later life through a number of preventative measures.
Dag Årsland, Clinical Dementia Research
Many elderly people are affected by dementia or depression, sometimes even both. One problem is to set the correct diagnosis in cases where symptoms are often similar. Dag Årsland is studying different patient groups with the goal of identifying new biomarkers and brain activity that can be linked to depression, dementia and Parkinson's.
