Karin Dahlman-Wright

I am professor of molecular endocrinology since 2009. I am the chair of the KI board of infrastructure and have several assignments related to research infrastructure at the regional and national level. I am the chair of the KI council for environment and sustainability amd have several assignments related to  sustainable development at the regional and national level. I am the chair of Karolinska Institutet taskforce for center for medical radiation science.

I was programme director for the sector wide programme in gender-based vulnerability and sexual harassment 2020 – 2022. 

I was made Vice-President of Karolinska Institutet on 1 January 2016. On 18 February that same year, the government appointed me Karolinska Institutet’s acting President, a position I relinquished on 1 August 2017 to resume my previous title. I left my position as Vice President 9 September 2019. From 2009 until August 2015 I was head of the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition, and in 2015 I was vice-dean of infrastructure.

Between September 2013 and June 2015 I was KI Scientific Director at SciLifeLab with special responsibility for the national platforms, and was a member of SciLifeLab’s operational management. In 2001 I founded BEA, a core facility that provides advanced services in genomics and bioinformatics. From 1994 to 2000 I held the positions of line manager and project manager at Pharmacia and Upjohn.

I have published more than 110 original publications and more than 20 review articles. Studies have included cellular signaling in breast cancer, cellular signaling in insulin resistance and signaling via estrogen receptors. Studies have been conducted in different cell systems, human samples and animals. Expertise includes also genomics and genetics as well as drug target identification and drug target development.

I have supervised 8 PhD students as main supervisor, 7 PhD students as co-supervisor and 11 post-doctoral fellows
