Psychiatric disorders and their comorbidity with physical health
Our research focuses on risk factors (especially traumatic life events) for psychiatric disorders and the comorbidity between psychiatric disorders and different somatic diseases, including cancer, infections, and cardiometabolic diseases.
Ongoing projects:
OncoMENT: A research program focusing on the link between mental health and cancer, where we study the risk of cancer among individuals with mental illness and psychiatric comorbidities among cancer patients (funded by the Swedish Cancer Society).
PreciMENT: A university cooperation program with the aim of transforming mental health care through precision medicine in Nordic countries (funded by NordForsk).
MediMENT: A Nordic collaboration on computational drug repurposing for mental disorders using population-wide Electronic Health Records and Biobanks in the Nordic countries (funded by European Partnership for Personalized Medicine)
BRISK: A collaboration between Sweden and Iceland to elucidate determinants and health sequels of cosmetic surgery among women (funded by VR and Forte).
