Psychological Interventions – Innovation, Improvement and Implementation
The group has conducted randomized clinical trials and health economic analyses of internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) for insomnia, depression, pregnant women with depression, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), adults with ADHD, chronic nightmares, Parkinson’s disease, and psychiatric comorbidity. We have contributed our expertise in ICBT and clinical trials through numerous collaborations with other researchers and clinical experts. The group’s expertise in sleep-related issues has become particularly strong, and evaluations and implementations are also being carried out for traditional CBT in this area. ICBT is in itself an innovative method, and the extensive data that can be collected before, during, and after such treatments provides excellent opportunities for both basic research into therapeutic processes and precision medicine—using machine learning/AI to build predictive models that can guide individual patients’ treatments.
The research has always been oriented towards patients and clinical application, and we have a close collaboration with the Internet Psychiatry Unit [Internetpsykiatri], which has offered regular ICBT since 2008. More recently, we have expanded cooperation with several care units at Psychiatry South West (Psykiatri Sydväst) and other clinics, primary care centers, and also schools across the country.
