Geriatric pharmacoepidemiology – Kristina Johnell's research group

We study medication use in older adults. This includes inappropriate medication use, polypharmacy, effectiveness and safety of medicines. We use national health data (register data) of medication use, health care and long-term care use. We are involved in international collaborations with the aim of improving medication treatment in older adults.

Our research is focused on improving medication treatment in older adults. We do this by investigating trends in medications use, assessing benefits and risks and investigating medication use in specific groups of the older population.
