Karolinska Institutet är den största mottagaren av extern forskningsfinansiering från USA bland svenska universitet.

År 2023 bidrog amerikanska finansiärer med närmare 110 miljoner kronor till KI:s forskning. Intäkterna kom från federala finansiärer som National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DoD), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), och privata stiftelser i landet.
