Adjunct Professor in translational immunology and research group leader at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Danderyd Hospital. Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine at IMA, Danderyd Hospital.

My interest in the immune system developed during my Ph.D. studies while studying

the role of neutrophils and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in cancer biology. I established my own research group in 2020 which currently includes five Ph.D. students, two post docs and one senior researcher. My research interests remain within immunology, and my research group divides current focus between two distinct aims: a deeper understanding of the role of secretory IgA in respiratory mucosal immunity and the discovery of biomarkers predicting an occult cancer in high-risk populations. To achieve these goals, we lead two clinical cohort studies; MEDECA and COMMUNITY, and in 2024, we launched the D/T-MAP project: Dissecting and Translating the Functional Role of Mucosal IgA Glycoprofiles for Effective Humoral Mucosal Protection.

I was appointed Associate Professor (Docent) in Immunology in 2022 and Adjunct Professor of Translational Immunology in 2025. My research is supported by several awards, including funding from the Swedish Research Council (2022–2025), ALF (2020–2025), an ERC Starting Grant (2024), the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Project Grant (2024), the SSMF Consolidator Grant (2024), Region Stockholm, Stitching af Jochnick Foundation, Jonas and Christina af Jochnick Foundation, Hjärt-Lungfonden, and National Institute of Health (NIH).
