Biosafety and FACS
High security labs and cutting edge fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) technologies are crucial elements in the toolbox of a leading medical university.
Biosafety Level 3
The Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory is platform to develop research work within the HIV field. It has been built for work with microorganisms classified BSL-3, with potential possibility of conversion to a BSL-4 unit.
These fluorescence activated cell sorter (FACS) facilities situated at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB), and the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC), respectively offers high speed cell sorting as well as advanced and general flow cytometry analysis.
MedH Flow Cytometry Facility
The Flow Cytometry Facility at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge (South Campus) offers a broad range of high quality services including assistance with experimental design, training for independent users, and operator-assisted services for cell analysis and cell sorting.
VirusTech Core Facility
Genetically engineered viruses provide powerful tools for introducing desired genes in cells. To facilitate the use of this state-of-art methodology, the VirusTech core facility at KI's Department of Cell and Molecular Biology specializes in the production, purification and concentration of such virus particles.
