Research at the Division of Paediatrics is conducted in research groups that are coordinated with the subspecialties of paediatric care. All research groups address issues that are relevant to the care of children at Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital, Karolinska University Hospital, mainly in Huddinge.

Examples of research areas include cystic fibrosis, neuropaediatrics, blood disorders, HIV and other serious infections, kidney disease, intestinal disorders, liver disease, metabolic disorders, neonatology, obesity, endocrinology and diabetology, transplantation, and child protection.

The division currently has around 20 registered doctoral students. Between 2020 and 2024, 17 doctoral students completed their doctoral degrees.

The division offers two paediatrics courses per semester as part of the medical programme. Just over 25 students participate in each course, which comprises seven weeks of full-time study. The division also organises one SVK course per semester, Det svårt sjuka barnet, which is a student-selected course in the final semester of the medical programme.

Björn Fischler is the head of the division. The organisation also includes administrators, course assistants, course leaders, directors of studies and professors.
