Livia van Leuven

Psychology degree from Karolinska institutet, lic. psychologist, and PhD from Karolinska institutet, the Department of Clinical Neuroscience. I have previously been working as a clinical psychologist with children and adolescents within primary care.

I am now a postdoctoral researcher at Karolinska institutet, the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology, and the Department of Global Public Health.

My research primarily focuses on preventing child abuse and maltreatment, particularly in high-risk families and in families where abuse has already occurred. During my doctoral studies, I led two controlled trials evaluating a parenting program for parents who have been reported for physical or emotional child abuse.

More broadly, I am interested in the prevention of child maltreatment and the promotion of mental health. I am involved in other projects that assess the effectiveness and implementation of programs to improve mental health and parenting.
