Obstetrics and Gynecology at KI DS

We conduct clinical research in obstetrics and gynaecology, focusing on safer pregnancies and births, gynaecological conditions, vulvovaginal health and family planning. Our research ranges from prevention and treatment to women’s health before, during and after pregnancy, and aims to improve care, the patient experience and long-term health outcomes.

Obstetrics

Around 4,500 babies are born every year at the Women’s Clinic at Danderyd Hospital. The Swedish Research Council and Region Stockholm are funding several of our research studies into how to make pregnancy and childbirth safer and a better experience.

Gynaecology

The research is carried out at the Women’s Clinic at Danderyd Hospital, where we provide outpatient care and conduct research into vulvovaginal disorders, including vulvodynia and recurrent yeast infections. Several studies are currently underway on treatments, the immune system and the link between early-life events and pain conditions. In the field of family planning, we are studying methods of abortion, pain relief during IUD insertion and contraceptive use in different groups.
