About me

  • Markus Jansson is an affiliated researcher at Department of Clinical Sciences, Danderyd Hospital and works as a consultant at the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Danderyd Hospital. Markus earned his PhD degree at Örebro University in 2022 defending the thesis "Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and Perineal and Vaginal Tears in Primiparous Women". The first two papers focused on the validity of documentation of obstetric perineal and vaginal tears, and incidence and risk factors of these tears, respectively. The third and fourth papers examined prevalence and risk factors of urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, obstructed defecation and vaginal bulging at 1 year postpartum. His clinical work is focused on birth-related pelvic floor injuries and dysfunction. He serves as process lead for pelvic floor dysfunction at Danderyd Pelvic Floor Center. Danderyd Pelvic Floor Centre is one of two national specialised medical units commissioned to perform secondary sphincter repair for anal incontinence following obstetric injury and advanced surgery for rectovaginal fistula.

Research

  • The overall aim of the current research on birth-related pelvic floor injuries is to understand the effects of reconstructive surgery on these injuries, to diagnose such injuries more accurately and to expand knowledge on risk factors for these injuries as the basis for future prevention.

Teaching

  • Markus served as a clinical assistent at the course "Clinical Medicine - specialization in Reproduction and Development" for medical students at Danderyd Hospital in 2025. Markus served as a teacher at the medical programme at Örebro University between 2017 and 2022.
