Researchers at Karolinska Institutet
Karolinska Institutet employs around 3,000 researchers, including some 430 full professors. In all, the university has more than 2,000 active doctoral students. A large number of researchers, such as visiting scientists and unwaged docents, are also affiliated to the university without a formal employment.

Inauguration of 21 new professors
Ageing in people with haemophilia, exosomes, and the importance of oral health – these are some of the areas that the new professors at Karolinska Institutet are interested in. In mid-October every year, it is time for the inauguration ceremony in Aula Medica.

Available positions for researchers

New career path created for research infrastructure specialists
Modern research often uses high-tech methods and tools that require particular expertise. Despite this, there has been no career paths in Sweden for individuals interested in the technical and methodological development needed to operate and develop the research infrastructures of the future.
Starting April 1, 2023, such a career path will be available at Karolinska Institutet, possibly the first of its kind in Sweden.

New professorship at Karolinska Institutet centred on prevention
Thanks to donations from numerous actors, Karolinska Institutet is now able to create a new professorship in prevention medicine. The professorship is named after its patron, HRH Prince Daniel.
The position will be advertised in 2023 and will be partly clinical in order to smooth the passage of new knowledge into practice. Besides conducting clinical and preclinical prevention research, the professorship will also concentrate on collaborating with different societal actors.
