StratRegen Retreat 2026
The StratRegen Conference gathers researchers and students at Karolinska Institutet specifically involved in basic, translational, and clinical aspects of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.
The event will feature keynote lectures by distinguished international scientists, alongside presentations by outstanding researchers and StratRegen grant awardees from Karolinska Institutet.

When: 22nd and 23rd of October
Where: Ellery Beach House, Lidingö
Welcome to an inspiring retreat where cutting-edge science meets collaboration, discussion, and exchange. Organized as a bi-annual conference by the Strategic Research Area in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, StratRegen brings together leading experts, emerging researchers, and the scientific community of Karolinska Institutet to explore key questions in regenerative medicine.
The retreat is designed to foster a strong, interactive community—one where insights are shared, ideas are challenged, and collaborations can grow. Participants will have the opportunity to present and discuss their work during poster sessions, and to engage with colleagues and international guests in a relaxed and open setting.
From Discovery to Regeneration
Our program highlights exciting advances across the field, with dedicated sessions on:
- Gene and Cell Therapy
- Bioengineering and Biotechnology
- Disease Modelling and Organoids
- Stem Cells in Tissue Maintenance and Regeneration
- Hematopoietic Stem Cells in Aging, Immunity, and Disease
We are proud to feature an outstanding lineup of keynote speakers:
- Sonja Schrepfer
- Miki Ebisuya
- Paola Arlotta
- Pantelis Rompolas
- Jennifer Trowbridge
These sessions are complemented by contributions from a wide range of researchers at Karolinska Institutet, creating opportunities for discussion, exchange of ideas, and meaningful interaction across disciplines.
Join us and be part of the journey—from discovery to regeneration.

Eligibility:
- Researchers within in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine from Karolinska Institutet.
- PhD students and postdocs are required to submit an abstract for a poster in order to be eligible to attend the retreat.
- The StratRegen retreat is primarily intended for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and principal investigators. Participation from other groups may be considered in exceptional cases, subject to availability and based on the quality and relevance of the submitted abstract.

- A limited number of the highest-ranked abstracts will be selected for oral presentation. You can indicate your preference for oral presentation in the abstract submission form.
Competitions:
StratRegen will feature both poster prizes and an art competition celebrating creativity in science.
The StratRegen art competition invites participants to explore and showcase the aesthetic dimension of research. Attendees are encouraged to collect and prepare scientific art pieces in advance—further instructions and submission details will be provided later.
Submitted works will be exhibited during the retreat, where winners will be selected and awarded prizes.
