StratRegen KI - PI Retreat 2025
We warmly invite all group leaders within Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine research at KI to a strategic meeting with updates on Life Science and Stem Cell initiatives in Stockholm and Sweden, along with research presentations.
The meeting offers excellent networking opportunities, potential for new collaborations and funding, and a chance to help shape the future direction of stem cell research at Karolinska Institutet.
Date: 11th to 12th of November 2025
Place: Görvälns slott, north of Stockholm

We are pleased to invite you to a focused retreat to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and future directions of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine research at Karolinska Institutet.

The stem cell research landscape is rapidly evolving. Recent breakthroughs—ranging from lab-grown organoids that are transforming disease modeling and drug screening, to iPSC-derived therapies and gene editing-based treatments entering clinical trials—are reshaping the field. At the same time, insights from Developmental and Systems Biology continue to deepen our understanding of how cells and tissues form and interact, opening new avenues for therapeutic innovation.
However, as the field moves closer to clinical application, a range of complex and interconnected challenges must be addressed. These include the translation of therapies from preclinical models to patients under rigorous standards such as GMP, as well as critical concerns such as functional integration, immune rejection, and the evolving regulatory and ethical frameworks that govern advanced therapies.
The successful development and implementation of ATMPs requires sustained collaboration across disciplines and sectors, ensuring that cutting-edge technologies are not only developed, but also made accessible to early-stage researchers and translational efforts.
Program
We invite discussion with professionals who bring both experience and informed perspectives on these key challenges, as well as leading representatives from other stem cell and regenerative medicine networks in the Nordics.
