Call for StratRegen Synergy Seed Funding Proposals 2025
Establishing Facilities/Resources for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research.
Funding Opportunity: StratRegen invites applications for seed funding to support the establishment of facilities or resources that will benefit and promote state-of-the-art research in the field of stem cells and regenerative medicine at KI.
Scope
The funding is intended to support the development of sustainable research facilities/ resources that will serve multiple research groups and departments at KI. The proposed facility or infrastructure should introduce a currently not available platform, technic, service etc. and address an unmet need within the research community. Furthermore, the intended infrastructure has to be capable of operating autonomously after the seed funding period through user fees or other sustainable financial models.
Funding Details
- Duration: up to 2 years
- Maximum funding per project: 2 MSEK
- Maximum total funding for this call: 4 MSEK
- Funding is non-renewable; applicants must demonstrate a viable plan for financial sustainability beyond the seed funding period.

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to research collaborations within the stem cell and regenerative medicine field at KI.
- Existing infrastructure will not be funded.
- The proposed facility/resource must be designed to serve a broad user base and promote interdisciplinary collaboration
- The facility/resource must be established at KI/Region Stockholm
- The lead applicant must
- hold a PhD (or equivalent)
- be employed at KI/Region Stockholm (min. 50% during the funding period)
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Scientific and Strategic Impact: The extent to which the proposed infrastructure has the potential to advance state-of-the art novel stem cell and regenerative medicine research at KI.
- Community Benefit: The number of researchers and departments that will have access to the facility and the extent of its impact on the field.
- Feasibility & Sustainability: A clear plan for implementation, operation, and long-term financial self-sufficiency.
- Innovation & Need: The novelty and uniqueness of the facility and its ability to address an unmet need within the research community.
- Applicants: Relevant scientific expertise of the applicants.
