The group’s research encompasses both established mental health conditions – such as anxiety, depression, stress, substance use disorders and sleep difficulties – and pain conditions that predominantly affect women, including fibromyalgia, endometriosis and vulvodynia. The group also focuses on health problems related to pregnancy and childbirth, including fear of childbirth, postnatal depression and childbirth-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The group’s work is grounded in the recognition that women’s health has long been given insufficient priority, resulting in substantial gaps in knowledge. The research group addresses these gaps through interdisciplinary studies, long-term research programmes and close collaboration with the women concerned. Its aim is to improve healthcare for women by developing more precisely targeted treatments and models of care tailored to women’s specific needs. The group serves as a national platform for generating knowledge, collaboration and the dissemination of research findings, with the ambition of raising awareness and strengthening expertise in women’s health across healthcare and society.
