Education Support Office

The Education Support Office gathers support for education at Bachelor's level, Master's level, doctoral level and for executive and professional education.

Units

The unit has overall responsibility for recruiting students to KI’s study programmes, both nationally and internationally, as well as promoting the programmes. The unit is also responsible for general student guidance and career counseling for students, doctoral candidates, postdocs, and researchers at KI. Additionally, the unit runs KI’s alumni activities.

  • Student and career guidance: The student and career guidance services cater to prospective students through counseling sessions, email, phone, high school visits, and recruitment fairs. The unit is also responsible for managing KI student ambassadors.
  • Education communication: The unit provides information about and promotes KI’s educational programmes nationally and internationally through web platforms, social media, fairs, and with the assistance of student ambassadors.
  • Alumni relations: KI Alumni is a professional and social network for anyone who wants to stay connected with Karolinska Institutet. The goal is to establish and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with student and staff alumni through news, events, and valuable services.

The unit provides support for the medical programme and the biomedicine programme, both to the programme management and to the students regarding their studies. The unit also coordinates and prepares matters for the programme boards and parts of their sub-organisations, as well as managing tasks such as the part of the medical programme’s selection process that is based on exams and interviews.

The Unit for Executive and Professional Education is tasked with acting as a broker for professional education programmes, where KI’s departments serve as knowledge guarantors. The unit supports departments in their work with professional education and assists with educational administration and marketing. 

The professional education aims to increase patient benefit, enhance healthcare safety, and efficiently utilise existing resources. Furthermore, it seeks to improve integration between healthcare, research, and education. Read more about the Executive and Professional Education Unit's work

The mission of Student Wellbeing Centre is to provide health-promoting, preventive, and therapeutic care for students experiencing study-related issues. The Student Wellbeing Centre complements regular health care and offers interventions at individual, group, and organisational level to students and doctoral candidates at Karolinska Institutet. The unit works with operational support for students with disabilities, educational managers, and teachers in educational legal matters and workplace issues, as well as operational support for exchange studies.

  • Operational support for students with disabilities: Students with disabilities can apply for targeted support to facilitate their study time. The goal is to ensure that all students have equal opportunities to study.
  • Exchange studies: The unit provides information and support to students during exchange studies, including reception and orientation for incoming exchange students.
  • Educational legal matters and workplace issues: The unit supports educational managers and teachers in educational legal matters, workplace issues, and investigations related to specific student cases.
  • Educational administrative processes: Assisting with administrative processes, study guidance questions, and certain administrative matters within clinical education, such as access to e-service cards for incoming students.
  • Networks & administrative processes: Coordinating networks for educational coordinators, study advisors, and educational administrators. The unit also oversees certain KI-wide regulations and educational administrative processes.
  • Examination services: Managing all examinations in KI’s shared examination halls.
