Merscope -BIC

Spatially resolved transcriptomics, recognized as the 2020 Method of the Year by Nature Methods, is swiftly advancing. Spatial omics encompasses various technologies enabling the integration of -omics data onto tissue images. Beyond revealing molecular cell subpopulations, these approaches provide valuable insights into the spatial distribution of identified subpopulations within the tissue, their proximity to each other, and their relationships with the extracellular matrix, blood vessels, and other tissue components.

BIC introduces a spatial transcriptomics platform utilizing the Vizgen Merscope platform, powered by the exclusive MERFISH (Multiplexed Error-Robust Fluorescence in situ Hybridization) technology.

This innovative spatial transcriptomics technique explores gene expression in cells while preserving spatial information. Applicable to cell cultures or thin tissue sections on specially designed coverslips (1 cm2), the method employs a microscope examining custom gene panels for studying 140, 300, 500, or 1000 genes.

The imaging process is fully automated, subjecting the specimen to various chemical treatments. The examination duration varies based on the number of genes investigated, resulting in comprehensive lists of discovered transcripts with their spatial coordinates and mosaic images at cellular resolution.
