Developmental biology and regenerative medicine – Igor Adameyko's research group
We look at a range of live systems from a mechanistic point of view, trying to reverse engineer different aspects of multicellular life. Tracing the incremental advancements in development of multicellular organisms from a single cell perspective allows better understanding of the complexity of the entire organism or organ system in a final phase.

Germ cell biology, developmental programming and epigenetic inheritance of disease – Qiaolin Deng's research group
Our research group at FyFa is interested in understanding the developmental principles of the germline in health and disease. Moreover, we focus on how the parental effects are transmitted via developmental programming and germline moderation to future offspring, a process known as epigenetic inheritance. High-throughput sequencing, stem cell differentiation modeling, 3D organoid culture and transgenic mouse models are our frequently used tools among others.

Forskningsgruppen ”Barnanestesi-Stockholm” forskar inom följande olika områden anknutna till anestesi eller intensivvård av barn i olika åldrar: regional anestesi och postoperativ smärtlindring, farmakologi framförallt riktat mot användning av alpha-2 agonister, övervakning av ventilation och cirkulation med inriktning på kapnodynamik, spädbarnsanestesi samt preoperativ information och premedicinering inför anestesi.

We study gene flow from Neandertals and Denisovans into modern humans. In addition, we are interested in genetic variability in general, and the functional consequences thereof, particularly for membrane-bound proteins such as receptors and ion channels. Other topics of interest include pharmacogenetics and the genetic predisposition to infectious diseases, such as COVID-19. Our approaches include both bioinformatics and functional studies.
