The 4th edition of the public outreach day, "En dag för cancerforskning", which will take place on 12 November 2025.

The 8th Cancer workshop for patient organizations will be held online on October 23, 2025 and will be conducted in Swedish.

During the event, participants will gain insights into cutting-edge research in the cancer field, this year with a special focus on cancers common in men.

The next Cancer Research KI Industry-Academia Collaborations Seminar will take place on 22 October 2025 and will focus on Academic collaborations with the pharma industry: How to Do It Right! 

Collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry can turn lab discoveries into life-changing therapies and spark new innovations. Why does it matter to you? Because the the right partnerships can advance your science and amplify its impact. 

So, how do you build successful collaborations? Join us for an insightful seminar featuring AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), MSD, Roche, LIF (The Swedish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry), and KI, who will share their experiences, challenges, and practical advice on making collaborations successful.

We are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Cancer Core Europe (CCE) Summer School in Translational Cancer Research, taking place in beautiful Algarve, Portugal from 5 – 10 October 2025. 

To apply for the upcoming CCE Summer School, please visit https://www.cancercoreeurope.eu/summerschool/ and submit your application along with a scientific abstract. The deadline for applications is Friday, May 23rd, 2025. Successful applicants will be notified at the end of June.

The XXII Cancer Research KI Retreat took place on September 22-23, 2025 at Djurönäset in the Stockholm archipelago, gathering Cancer Researchers from Karolinska Institutet and University Hospital for an annual joint scientific meeting.

The event included presentations from the invited keynote speakers: Prof. Robert A. Weinberg, Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, MIT, Prof. Michelle Monje, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Stanford University, and Prof. Hans Clevers, Hubrecht Institute, Utrecht University.

The Sixth Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center and Cancer Research-Karolinska Institutet Joint Cancer Research Symposium featuring the 2024 Cancer Research Funding Awardees and Keynote Presentations will take place on 18 June 2025, 7:45–11:00 US CT / 2:45–6:00 CET.

Register for the up-coming Swedish Cancer Research Meeting 22-23 May 2025 in Malmö!

The meeting is open to all clinical, preclinical researchers and others with an interest in cancer research from the organizing universities.

The four keynote speakers are Douglas Hanahan, Jana de Boniface, Anna Blom, and Julian Downward. The meeting hosts plenary sessions on the themes: Immunotherapy, Prevention and Biomarker Implementation.

Cancer Research KI, External Engagement office (EEO) and KI Innovations invite you to a joint seminar on the topic of "Intellectual Property (IPR)", where we will explore the fundamentals of IPR and its importance in both academia and industry. The seminar is open to everyone, however, it is especially tailored for PhD Students and Postdoctoral Researchers looking to navigate the basics of IPR in Sweden.

The second radiotherapy workshop in Stockholm within the framework of the "twinning agreement" between KI and NIO will take place 12-13 May 2025. The workshop will cover radiotherapy (RT) related research ongoing at Karolinska University Hospital, KI and NIO. It will cover several topics such as brachytherapy, SBRT, clinical RT trials and preclinical RT research.

Together with RCC Stockholm-Gotland, Cancer Research KI at Karolinska Institutet is organizing the seventh cancer workshop for patient organizations.

The workshop will be held online on April 10th (13:00-14:35). During the event, participants will gain insights into cutting-edge research in the cancer field, this year with a special focus on cancers common in women.

Speakers: Renske Altena, Marike Gabrielson, Yvonne Wengström and Hanna Milerad.

Radiotherapy Workshop is now open for registration for PhD Students, Postdocs, researchers and clinicians within Karolinska Insitutet or Karolinska Hospital. 
The workshop will cover different aspects of radiotherapy in a two-day setting with theoretical and practical sessions.

The Swedish Cancer Research Meeting has been arranged since 2010 by the National Strategic Research Areas in Cancer bringing together the whole field of cancer researchers in Sweden. The event is circulating between the different organisations and in 2023 it is Cancer Research KI at Karolinska Institutet that will host the meeting held at Aula Medica Karolinska Institutet.

Welcome to a lecture by this year's Sjöberg Laureate chemist Kevan M. Shokat from the USA. Ten years ago, he became the first person to succeed in blocking one of the mutated proteins that cause most cancer cases. This is a huge scientific breakthrough that is bringing hope to people who are critically ill with lung cancer.
