Research groups

In the research group Sepsis, Critical Illness, and Perioperative Optimization, led by Maria Cronhjort, we aim to improve outcomes for critically ill and surgical patients through advances in intensive care, sepsis treatment and perioperative care.

In the Perioperative quality research group, led by Jan Jakobsson, we focus on perioperative quality, patient recovery and post-operative outcomes, and use data from national registers to support evidence-based care.

In the research group on Fluid Balance in Surgery and Intensive Care, led by Robert Hahn, we study fluid balance and fluid management during surgery and intensive care, focusing on how infusion fluids affect the body’s physiology, blood circulation and recovery. The aim is to optimise fluid management and reduce the risk of complications in patients.
