Funding from the Erling-Persson Foundation
The Erling-Persson Foundation is an important funder of the more clinically orientated research at Karolinska Institutet. The Foundation focuses on patient-oriented and application-oriented medical research, but also supports the field of education and organisations working with vulnerable children and young people.

Anders Kvanta, Department of Clinical Neuroscience and Fredrik Lanner, Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology. Grant of SEK 10 million distributed over three years.
Project: A clinical phase 1 study on age-related macular degeneration.

Johan Lundin, Department of Global Public Health. Grant of SEK 10 million over a period of three years.
Project: Artificial intelligence for diagnostics of cancer and infectious diseases in resource-limited settings (MoMic Project).
Gunilla Karlsson Hedestam, Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology. Grant of SEK 8 million over a period of three years.
Project: Future-proofing against COVID-19.

Janne Lehtiö, Department of Oncology-Pathology. Grant of SEK 7.5 million over a period of three years.
Project: Harnessing proteomics for selection of right treatment combination for each patient.
2019
Maria Eriksdotter, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society. Grant of SEK 8.2 million over a period of three years.
Project: New diagnostic tools and treatment for Alzheimer's disease, traumatic brain injury, and small vessel disease.
The Erling Persson Hall in Aula Medica
Karolinska Institutet has also received a large donation from the Erling Persson Foundation, which enabled the construction of Aula Medica in Solna. The auditorium in Aula Medica is called the Erling Persson Hall, named after the donor Stefan Persson's father.
