Mental disorders, comorbidity and work disability
This project aims to investigate different aspects of work disability in individuals with mental disorders with and without comorbidity of a somatic disorder in the Swedish general population.
The project scrutinizes unresolved issues like e.g. possible cohort effects, the influence of health care and treatment as well as changes in social insurance regulations, which will contribute extensively to the current knowledge base.
The studies are based on register data, which is obtained for individuals and their parents (where available) from Statistics Sweden, the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Social Insurance Agency. This project includes the so far largest cohort studies in this research area, covering a total population with long follow-up periods, and comprehensive information on potential confounders, like socio-economic factors.
