Biomedicum - a laboratory of the future

In Biomedicum, a large part of the experimental research at Karolinska Institutet's campus Solna has been collected under a roof in an advanced research environment that promotes collaboration and research across scientific boundaries. In Biomedicum, there are also a number of lecture halls.

Reception

The reception at Biomedicum is located in the main entrance, level 3, Solnavägen 9.

Opening hours

Main entrance, level 3: 07:00–17:00 on weekdays, closed on weekends.

Entrance level 2: 08:00–17:00 on weekdays, closed on weekends.

The building is accessible 24/7 for holders of a KI access card.

Temporary access cards

The reception can issue temporary access cards to visiting researchers, contractors, suppliers, or other visitors who need access to the building. You can also be issued a day pass if you have forgotten or lost your regular card.

Lecture halls / access

In Biomedicum, there are shared spaces that support creativity and informal meetings.

The common area on level 3 is accessible to the public between 07:00–17:00. On level 3, there are speed gates leading to the other floors; these require an access card.

All lecture halls require an access card.

Biomedicum comprises four sections distributed across eleven floors, covering a total area of approximately 65,000 square metres. The facility offers shared infrastructure, enabling advanced technology platforms and equipment to be utilised by multiple users and supporting collaboration between research groups. The laboratories are among the most modern in Europe.
