Mesenchymal Stromal Cell Biology and Therapeutics

The Mesenchymal Stromal Cell (MSC) Subgroup focuses on advancing the understanding and therapeutic potential of MSCs across regenerative medicine and immunomodulation.

The team investigates the biological properties, differentiation capacity, and molecular signatures of MSCs derived from diverse tissues, aiming to optimize their characterization and functional performance. Current projects explore MSC interactions within inflammatory and fibrotic microenvironments, mechanisms of tissue repair, and strategies to enhance cell potency through innovative culture systems and biomaterials. By integrating cellular biology, advanced imaging, and translational approaches, the subgroup contributes to the development of safe and effective MSC-based therapies. The team works in close collaboration with clinical partners and other research units to accelerate the transition from fundamental discoveries to clinical applications.
