The NVS Doctoral Student Council
The NVS doctoral student council consists of doctoral student representatives from every division at NVS.
Are you a doctoral student at NVS? Then check out this page!
Our mission as the Doctoral Student Council is to look out for doctoral students’ interests and be their voice to improve the education at NVS. For example, we attend the first-year follow-up for doctoral students to answer questions and give information and tips on documents like the Dialogue instrument and the Support information folder. Scroll down to check them out.
We represent all divisions at NVS - ARC, Clinical Geriatrics (north and south), Family Medicine and Primary Care, Nursing, Neurogeriatrics (north and south), Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy. You can find contact information for each division at the end of this web page. With one or two representatives from each division, there’s always someone who understands your environment and can amplify your voice.
As part of the council, we hold monthly digital meetings to share updates from our divisions and to discuss what is happening across NVS. And every semester, we make sure to enjoy an after‑work evening together.
So how do we make a difference?
We bring the perspectives of doctoral students into regular meetings at NVS, such as the Committee for Doctoral Education and the NVS Department Council. At these meetings, we raise issues that matter to doctoral students and contribute with our experiences to give input on the doctoral education and upcoming projects. Our close collaboration with the Committee for Doctoral Education strengthens discussions on how to develop and improve doctoral education at NVS. We also stay connected to the Doctoral Student Association (DSA).
