Collaboration with municipalities

Karolinska Institutet has long collaborated with municipalities on issues relating to workplace-based learning, competence provision, and knowledge exchange. As healthcare undergoes a structural change towards good, local care, it has become particularly important to develop existing collaborations and establish new ones.

When healthcare is organized and conducted to a greater extent based on the needs and circumstances of the patient, new working methods are required, and research and education are a natural part of this.

The agreements KI has signed with municipalities aim to create conditions for research and education in the relevant municipal activities and to develop an academic culture in the municipalities.

This collaboration contributes to fulfilling KI's vision of advancing knowledge about life and working for better health for all.

Municipalities that have comprehensive agreements with KI

  • City of Stockholm
  • Huddinge Municipality
  • City of Solna
  • Upplands-Bro Municipality

The collaboration focuses on preventive health and, initially, on the areas of equal health, healthy aging, and an active lifestyle.

In the area of innovation and utilization, the parties will, among other things, exchange expert support and participate in joint innovation processes.
