Every year, thousands of Swedes become stuck in long-term sickness absence. The Center for Return to Work has been tasked with developing guidance on how employers, primary healthcare and occupational health services can collaborate to help people on sick leave return to work.

The participating researchers—together with members of the advisory board—gathered on February 20, 2026, for the kickoff event of the Stockholm Center for Return to Work. The day was dedicated to collaborative planning and discussions to outline the goals, structure, and next steps of the upcoming project.
