Goals and Vision
The Center’s vision is to advance interdisciplinary research that supports sustainable and inclusive return to work.

The Stockholm Center for Return to Work is a multidisciplinary research environment that brings together expertise from several fields to address the complex challenges related to sickness absence and return to work. By integrating perspectives from medicine, psychology, sociology, epidemiology, law, political science, and working life research, the center aims to generate knowledge and solutions that contribute to a more sustainable working life.
The center’s goals are to reduce sickness absence and to promote a sustainable return to work (RTW) for individuals affected by illness or injury. The vision is to establish a leading multidisciplinary research environment where complex issues related to return to work are addressed from a holistic perspective. Through collaboration across disciplines, the research will contribute to improved individual health, strengthen workplaces’ preventive and rehabilitative capacity, support the implementation of evidence-based interventions, and inform the development of more coordinated and effective policies.
