School-based physical activity interventions and mental health in children and adolescents: a systematic review
A systematic review commissioned by The Public Health Agency of Sweden.
Aim
To review the effects of school-based interventions aiming to increase physical activity or decrease sedentary behaviour on mental health in children and adolescents.
Specific questions are:
- What are the effects of school-based interventions to increase physical activity or decrease sedentary behaviour on the prevalence of positive mental health or introverted psychological disorders in normal populations of children and adolescents?
- What characterises interventions that are effective regarding the content and the implementation?
- What are the age, sex, family structure, socioeconomic status, country of birth or geographic location moderators of intervention effects?
