HUMAN

Health and the Understanding of Metabolism, Aging and Nutrition

The Treuter-Steffensen laboratories investigate the intricate relationship between metabolism and inflammation that emerges as a key feature of the metabolic syndrome and its major components obesity, insulin resistance, and type 2-diabetes. The main objective is to study transcriptional and epigenetic control of metabolism and inflammation in pathophysiology and how post-translational modifications of the oxysterol receptors (LXRs) affect transcriptional regulation of metabolic pathways. The team hopes to contribute to an advanced understanding of metabolic disease mechanisms and to translate this knowledge into new therapeutic strategies.

Project period: 2013-2018

Project funding: 4 044 280 €

Project type: Collaborative
