Samir EL Andaloussi and his research group at Labmed is collaborating with Dr Yoshitsugu Aoki at the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry (NCNP) in Tokyo, Japan to develop targeted nanoparticles to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Ali Mirazimi and Matti Sällberg at the Department of Laboratory Medicine are leading a study on vaccine for Crimean-Congo virus which can cause fatal haemorrhagic fever. According to the study, which has been published in the journal Nature Microbiology, the research team has tested the vaccine on primates and it showed no serious side-effects.
