Introduction to KERIC

KERIC, Karolinska Experimental Research and Imaging Center is a Preclinical core facility for Imaging research and surgical training that have an excellent preclinical image capability for MRI, PET, CT, Angio-CT and more. KERIC offers different imaging analyses in experimental systems in combination with experimental surgery in large animals like swine as well as in rodents.

KERIC Is a core facility offering different imaging analyses in experimental systems in combination with experimental surgery in large animals like swine as well as in rodents. The unit belongs to the department of comparative medicine (AKM) and is situated at Karolinska University Hospital, Solna. KERIC also belong in the core facility structure Centre for Imaging Research (CIR). KERIC is financed by core facility support from Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital, and by user fees.

 

Service

We offer a fully equipped facility for Experimental surgery with four full size operation units equipped with ventilators and monitors for physiological functions, and laboratories for small animal surgery. We provide tools for Angiography (Philips Alura FlexMove FD20), MRI (Bruker 9.4T USR 94/30), PET-MRI/CT (Mediso nanoScan 2x PET-CT), and offer our resources to academic research, training courses and for external clients.

When you run project with KERIC we offer support by our specialised Application Scientists and Animal Technicians with expertise in the modalities we have. We will run the equipment and can help you with designing the experiments and project workflow. We can also offer support with the Ethical Approval application process or in some cases handle the Ethical license in house.

We can Host animals direct or indirect with collaboration within KU (AKM) and other animal labs we collaborate with.

 

Location

KERIC is located right in the middle of Stockholm’s Life Science Center. Right between the New Karolinska University Hospital main building and Aula Medica, were the Nobel prize in Medicine usually gives the Nobel Lecture.

KERIC is in the BioClinicum building at level 4 which is mainly dedicated to labs within CIR, Center for Imaging Research that is a joint project between Karolinska Institute, Karolinska University Hospital, KTH and MedTechLabs.
