About the centre for AI innovation
We provide support for accelerated development and implementation of AI Innovations in healthcare.
We support the full journey from research to implementation – across four domains: research, innovation, education, and implementation. And we do this for three different communities: KI's own researchers and staff, healthcare providers, and external partners in industry. However, we work closely with all stakeholders across the innovation ecosystem.
Meetings and knowledge exchange
At the beginning of 2027, we will officially launch our Community of Practice at Karolinska Institutet:
- A community of practice gathering all relevant stakeholders to meet around a common goal – to accelerate the use of AI in medical research and healthcare
- A convening space for the hard, unresolved questions in AI + health – cutting edge/forward-thinking, engaging and responsive

Our policy lab for emerging technologies helps mitigate risks by providing guidance on ethical and legal issues, as well as support with validation and certification. It also creates opportunities for collaboration with policymakers and other stakeholders.
