Research with monkeys
At KI, groundbreaking research is carried out that contributes to new knowledge in cancer, neuroscience, immunology, epidemiology and global health. The research that is underway using monkeys leads to new knowledge that cannot currently be achieved with any other method. KI follows Swedish legislation for all animal experiments and no human primates, only macaques, are used.

All animal experiments conducted in Sweden must be approved by an ethical review board. According to the Animal Welfare Act, no animal experiments may be carried out if there are alternative methods to achieve the same research results.
