This accommodation type is therefore a perfect alternative if you would like to get new friends in Stockholm!

Studio with shared kitchen 

A studio apartment with own bathroom and refrigerator. The common kitchen is shared with other tenants on the same floor. The shared kitchen is equipped with basic cooking utensils. There is also a large area for socializing on the entrance floor. This accommodation type is great for getting to know other tenants while having more private space than the rooms in the shared apartments!

Note that this accommodation alternative is located in the second building that has a lot of areas for socializing and events, and disturbances may therefore occur.

This accommodation alternative offers:

• Private studio, size 23 square meters
• Bed size 120 x 200 cm
• Private bathroom with shower and toilet
• Access to shared kitchen on the same floor. This large kitchen is shared with 19 other tenants on the same floor.
• Access to common living space on the first floor in the same building

Inventory list

To find out what inventories or kitchen utensils your room or apartment are equipped with, we ask you to download the inventory list for KI Residence Solna.

Bedlinen

All rooms and apartments are equipped with mattress, mattress cover, quilt (size 150 x 200 cm) and pillow (size 50 x 60 cm).

Please note that you need to bring your own bed linen and towels.

Furniture

The tenant is responsible for keeping the room/apartment (and its furniture) clean during the whole lease and for leaving it clean for the new tenant.

Deficiencies regarding the inventory must be reported to the KI Housing office. When a tenant is leaving, damaged and/or missing items will be replaced and charged to the tenant.

Internet

There is a modem in every studio/apartment. You will find the name of the network and the password on the modem in the fuse box or on the Wi-Fi sticker placed on the fuse box. Note that you will not be able to get a refund if the internet service is unstable or down.

TV

The rooms and apartments are not equipped with TV-sets.

Common living space on the entrance floor

In KI Residence Solna, all tenants will have access to a common kitchen named "the Spot" on the entrance floor of Fogdevreten 13. All tenants staying in this area will also have access to common living space on the entrance floors in all three buildings. The common living space is great for socializing, events and studying!

Common facilities – code of conduct

Anyone using the common facilities is responsible for keeping them clean and leaving them in good order after use. Please see our information about rules and regulations that you as a tenant must follow and refer to.

Practical area information

Electronic key system

In KI Residence Solna, an electronic key system is installed. All tenants receive a personal electronic key tag upon arrival.

Central vacuum cleaning system

A central vacuum cleaning system is installed in KI Residence Solna.

This is a built-in system that has pipes that run through the interior walls and those are connected to a large vacuum system in the building. Wall-mounted inlets are placed in the walls in the corridors allowing all tenants to easily attach and detach a hose to vacuum a room or an apartment without hauling around a heavy vacuum cleaner.

Mailboxes

All mailboxes are located on the entrance floor at Fogdevreten 13. You will find the mailboxes in a room located on the left hand side of the main entrance when entering the building.

Instructions on how to open your mailbox

1. Open the mailbox by blipping your key tag at the black reader at the bottom of the mailbox row.
2. The light of the knob on the mailbox should now turn blue and the light of the reader should turn green.
3. Open the mailbox by turning the knob clockwise.

If you cannot open your mailbox, you may try to blip your key tag on the black reader at the bottom of the mailbox row to the right.

Fire alarm system

In KI Residence Solna, fire alarms are installed in each apartment and common area.

If the fire alarm is triggered in an apartment, it will sound loudly in the apartment. If the fire alarm is triggered in a common area, it will sound loudly in the whole building.

In case of fire/fire alarm

In case of a real fire, call 112
Warn all those exposed to the fire and evacuate the building by following the evacuation routes.

In case of false alarm
If you have caused a false fire alarm, we ask you to send an email to housingservice@ki.se during office hours and to call our RAs at 070-​​207 23 74 outside office hours. They will be able to inspect your apartment and silence the alarm. 

Residence Assistants

There are 4 Residence Assistants who are working in KI Residence Solna.

The Residence Assistants respond to emergency situations and are a helping hand for tenants in KI Residence Solna after office hours. The Residence Assistants will also serve as a link between the tenants and the KI Housing staff so you are welcome to contact them if you have any suggestions on how to improve the student life in KI Residence Solna.

On-call lock service

If you have been locked out of your apartment or if you have lost your keys and need to get into your apartment outside our office hours, we ask you to call our Residence Assistants at 070-2072374 who can open the door for you.

Storage room

Each apartment will have a walk-in-closet in the apartment.

Laundry room

All tenants in KI Residence Solna will have access to a common laundry room that is located on the entrance floor in the building of Fogdevreten 13.

Security in the area

The security company AVARN takes repeated rounds to make sure that the accommodation area is quiet and safe during night-time.

No hole in the walls

It is not allowed to hang anything on the walls in KI Residence Solna. There will be a bulletin board in each apartment where you can pin personal photos etc.

Window in the rooms/apartments

The big window in the room/apartment must not be opened unless there is an emergency situation.

There is a window handle attached to the radiator. Note that this window handle must ONLY be used in case of emergency. It is forbidden to remove the window handle attached to the radiator. If the window handle is not attached to the radiator upon departure, the tenant will be charged for this.

Parking

The company Aimo park provides parking on the KI Campus in Solna. Please call their customer support at 0771-969006 for information about available parking lots and rates etcetera.

Internet problems

If you would encounter any internet problems in your room/apartment, we ask you to contact the customer support of the internet service provider Telenor.

When calling their customer support, there are several choices in the voicemail so we ask you to follow the steps below:

1. Call 020-222 222.Their customer support is open on weekdays from 8AM to 9 PM and on weekends from 10 AM to 7 PM.
2. Press 9 for English
3. Press 2 for internet services
4. Press 3 for technical support
5. They will now ask for your social security number. As the internet service is registered on the landlord, not on your own social security number, we ask you to press * (star) to continue.
6. When you have followed the steps above, Telenor will tell you how long your estimated waiting time is.

When you have reached the support, we ask you to describe your internet problem in detail. You must also give them your postal address and apartment number. Sometimes they ask for your MAC ID and Serial Number that are given on the label, placed on the bottom of your modem (the modem is placed in the fuse box in the hallway).

Please note that it is important that you are in the room/apartment, and that your computer is switched on when calling, so that they can troubleshoot your connection.

Guest studio apartment

General information

If you are awaiting visits from relatives and friends that want to stay for several days, KI Housing has three guest studio apartments that can be booked by all tenants staying in KI Residence Solna.

About the apartment

The guest studio apartment is 23 square meters and is furnished with one queen size bed (size 140 x 200 cm). The apartment offers a private bathroom and kitchenette with basic cooking utensils.

The rent for the guest studio apartment is SEK 1400 for the first night and SEK 800 for the following nights.

Bed linen, towels, final cleaning and internet access are included in the rent.

Booking conditions

• Please send an email to housingoffice@ki.se if you are interested in renting a guest studio apartment for your visitors.
• The minimum rental time is 2 days and maximum is 7 days.
• A maximum of two guests per guest apartment is allowed.
• You can cancel the booking for no fee at the latest one week before the arrival date.
• If the cancellation request is sent less than one week before arrival, you will be charged a late cancellation fee of SEK 500.
• Booking and payment can only be made by the current tenant at KI Residence Solna.
• The cost for the guest room will be added to the following monthly rental invoice.

Location

How to get here from the central station

Take the subway or commuter train from T-Centralen to Odenplan. From Odenplan, you can catch bus No. 6 towards Karolinska Institutet. Get off at the stop Karolinska Institutet Biomedicum.*  See the map below for further details.

KI Campus Solna

KI Residence Solna is located right on the KI Campus in Solna.

KI Campus Flemingsberg

From KI Campus Solna you may take the free shuttle bus that connects the Solna and Flemingsberg Campuses (only on weekdays). The journey from KI Campus in Solna to Flemingsberg takes approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on the traffic situation.

The KI Campus in Flemingsberg is also reachable by public transport. To get there, you can catch bus No. 6 towards Ropsten. Get off at Odenplan. From Odenplan, you can take the commuter train towards Södertälje. Get off at Flemingsberg.* From there you may walk to the Campus Flemingsberg (about 600 meters).
