Home insurance

We strongly advise you to sign a home insurance for your stay at KI Housing. If anything is stolen from your room, or if any property is damaged or lost during your rental period, you are responsible for covering the repair or replacement costs.

Home insurance by Länsförsäkringar

The insurance company called Länsförsäkringar provides a home insurance for students that rents a housing area not exceeding 50 square meters. They accept home insurance applications also from students without a Swedish personal number.

The home insurance for students provides coverage for you and a maximum of one other person in your household who lives and is registered at the address listed on the policy. If you rent an apartment exceeding more than 50 square meters, Länsförsäkringar provides a regular home insurance as well. Unfortunately, you need to have a Swedish personal number to get their regular home insurance.

Who can purchase this student home insurance from Länsförsäkringar?

To be eligible to get the home insurance through Länsförsäkringar you must:

  • Be between 18-29 years old
  • Be registered at a University
  • Study at a minimum half time
  • Rent or own your housing within Stockholm county
  • Have a housing area not exceeding 50 square meters

What does the student home insurance from Länsförsäkringar cover?

The home insurance includes property-damage, travel insurance, liability protection, legal-expenses and personal-assault insurance. The property-damage insurance covers your personal possessions which pays compensation in event of example theft, damage and fire etcetera. “Personal possessions” are defined as your personal belongings such as furniture, items of clothing, sports equipment, money and other valuable documents.
