Prizes and Awards
A number of prizes and awards are presented at Karolinska Institutet every year. Also, the Karolinska Institutet Nobel Assembly handles the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine
In his will, Alfred Nobel appointed Karolinska Institutet to award the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Medals
Karolinska Institutet awards medals to people who have made special contributions to support KI. The medals are available in three categories: gold medal, grand silver medal and silver medal.

Honorary Doctors
Every year, Karolinska Institutet confers honorary doctorates to individuals for vital scientific achievements or significant contributions to the university or humanity at large.

KIPRIME - Karolinska Institutet Prize for Research in Medical Education
