Expertis inom preklinisk forskning inom området immunologi och infektion,
myeloida immunceller, värdpatogeninteraktioner och cellbiologi.
Driver translationella projekt med bas i preklinisk vetenskap.
Särskilt intresse: Infektion och immunologi, såväl som fibroblaster, myeloida
immunceller så som monocyter, dendritiska celler och makrofager vid akut
och kronisk vävnadsinflammation.
Nuvarande befattning: Forskargruppsledare, Docent.
Är studierektor för Forskarutbildningen på Institutionen för Medicin,
Huddinge och ordförande i Disputationskommittén på Karolinska Institutet.

Forskningsbeskrivning
Jag leder en forskargrupp [1] på Centrum för Infektionsmedicin (CIM [2])
inom Institutionen för medicin Huddinge. Gruppens forskning syftar till att
förstå hur vävnadsmikromiljön påverkar utveckling och funktion av myeloida immunceller vid homeostas, infektion och kroniska inflammtoriska tillstånd. Fokus ligger framför allt på förmågan hos vävandsspecifika celler, i synenrhet fibrobalster, att påverka myeloida cellers funktion vid
bakterieinfektioner såväl som kroniska inflammationstillstånd.
Vi strävar efter att identifiera proteiner och metaboliter som är viktiga
för vävnadsspecifika celler, såsom fibroblaster, att forma mikromiljön
för myeloida immuncellers funktion och bakteriers specifika egenskaper.
Målet är att:
1. Utveckla skräddarsydda immunokompetenta organotypiska modeller med humana
celler för att identifiera sjukdomsmekanismer, upptäcka biomarkörer och
validera interventioner vid infektions- och inflammationssjukdomar.
2. Använda identifierade sjukdomsmekanismer för att utveckla skräddarsydd
terapi och implementera personlig medicin vid akuta infektionssjukdomar
orsakade av bakterier.
3. Identifiera centrala värdegenskaper som i vävnadsmiljön driver utveckling och funktion av humana myeloia celler
