FENO - about us

FENO is a core facility for morphological phenotype analysis at Karolinska Institutet Syd (KI-S) and Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge (K-Huddinge). FENO aims to provide high standard histology and pathology services within preclinical research areas specifically focused on genetically modified models and therefore maximize the outcome in addition to the translational value of histopathology results.

Within the Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine (BCM), Department of Laboratory Medicine (LABMED), FENO is part of the animal research workflow that includes Preclinical Laboratory (PKL) and Preclinical Imaging Facility (PIF), to help researchers smoothly plan and perform their animal studies and phenotype their animal models by combing multidiscipline technologies. Through the collaboration with PKL and PIF, FENO aims to provide standardized and comprehensive phenotype analysis on different disease models, which could therefore contribute to enhance the understanding of human diseases/disorders and the development of new treatments strategies.
