European Master of Science in Occupational Therapy - A programme of excellent quality!

The programme consists of six modules and a master thesis. The division of Occupational Therapy at Karolinska Institutet is responsible for Module 5 and 6. Throughout the programme students will visit all five institutions, be inspired by new approaches to occupational therapy and network with fellow ambitious therapists from all over the world.

Internationalisation at its best: “innovative and original”

In May 2016, the European MSc in Occupational Therapy underwent two re-accreditations at once: the programme accreditation according to the standards of the Dutch Flemish Accreditation Institute NVAO (Nederlands Vlaamse accreditatieorganisatie) and the Distinctive Quality Feature Internationalisation according to the ECA standards (European Consortium for Accreditation in higher education).

The assessment report states that “the programme has internationalisation at its core, with a stated commitment to internationalisation, a consortium of partner institutions from five European countries leading the programme, teaching taking place on location in these five countries and the diverse group of students attending the programme“. This feature was awarded to the programme for the first time in 2010.

The programme demonstrates that the intended learning outcomes are achieved. Explanation: The level achieved is demonstrated by interim and final tests, final projects and the performance of graduates in actual practice or in post-graduate programmes

The content and structure of the curriculum provides the necessary means of achieving the intended international and intercultural learning outcomes. The teaching methods are suitable for achieving the intended international and intercultural learning outcomes. • Standard 5: Students

The composition of the student group (national and cultural backgrounds) is in line with the programme’s internationalisation goals. The internationalisation experience gained by students is adequate and corresponds to the programme’s internationalisation goals. The services provided to the students (e.g. information provision, counselling, guidance, accommodation, Diploma Supplement) support the programme’s internationalisation goals and correspond to the composition of the student group.
