About the Division of Family Medicine and Primary Care

The Division of Family Medicine and Primary Care coordinates, quality assures and organises education and training for staff and students in family medicine and primary care.
A key element of our activities is medical education, an area in which the division has overarching responsibility for different parts: the primary care parts with activities and clinical placements on most of the semesters of the study programme in medicine, the integrated final examination and clinical rotations in family medicine for foreign students. The division also offers physiotherapy programme courses, Master's level courses, and continuing education courses for primary care staff.

The division offers doctoral education and conducts a broad range of research with some 70 researchers and doctoral students with roots in family medicine and primary care. The division also has its own research school. Our research covers clinical, patient-centred, epidemiological and care science aspects. We mainly focus on developing knowledge in four main areas: medical education, social work in healthcare, mental health, and chronic conditions such as osteoporosis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and pain.
