The activities at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) are focused on research and teaching in the subjects of infection biology, cell and tumor biology and immunology. The department has 30 research groups, about 60 doctoral students and in total 263 employees.

If you find research exciting and have just completed your second or third year in high school in a science or engineering programme in Sweden, you can apply to Karolinska Institutet's Biomedical Summer Research School and have the chance to participate in a real research project.

If you have a great interest in computer programming and biomedical science this is the summer school for you. Five students will be able to join research teams at Karolinska Institutet and learn how to apply their computer knowledge to medical research. All students enrolled in their second or third year in science or technology programmes at high school level in Sweden are eligible to apply.
