Divisions at the Department of Laboratory Medicine
The department have seven divisions, of which six reflect clinics within the Karolinska University Laboratory at the Karolinska University Hospital.
Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine (BCM)
Activities at the Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine (BCM) focus on the application of modified biomolecules, cells and cell products as novel therapy agents as well as the identification and study of appropriate biomolecular and cellular targets for therapy and diagnosis.
Division of Clinical Chemistry
The division is scientifically involved in several basic research projects as well as clinically oriented projects and contributes to the overall teaching efforts of Laboratory Medicine
Division of Clinical Immunology
The division is host to activities that cover a broad spectrum within the subject area of immunology.

The research in clinical pharmacology at Karolinska Institutet/Karolinska University Hospital is mainly focused on factors that contribute to the variation in disposition of drugs in man.

The Division of Clinical Physiology provides diagnostic methods to detect and evaluate dysfunction of various organs and systems in the body such as the heart, peripheral vessels, lungs, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract.
