Admission decision for a doctoral position at GPH
The admission decision for a doctoral position is made by the Head of the Department, based on the recommendation of the Director of Doctoral Education.
Submit the decision form together with the mandatory attachments
When the main supervisor has decided on a candidate for the doctoral position, the supervisor and candidate should complete the form: decision - admission to doctoral education, together with the mandatory attachments:
- Eligibility statement (from central administration)
- Description of the selection process, and how the ability and suitability of the applicant has been assessed
- CV of the applicant
- Certificate of supervisor training (principal supervisor)
If applicable:
- Documentation regarding collaboration with another university (double degree)
- Revised financing plan (if the situation has changed since the financial plan was approved at the time of establishment of the doctoral position)
Find the form for the admission decision as well as the financing plan at the page listing all forms and documents for doctoral education.
Submit the documents, printed single-sided, in original to the administrative officer for doctoral education, who will forward the documents to the Director of Doctoral Education and the Head of the Department.
Please note that before the admission decision can be finalised, the prospective doctoral student must show their ID to the administrative officer at the Department of Global Public Health.

Decision of admission
The Director of Doctoral Education makes a recommendation, based on the completed form and the attachments.
The final decision is made by the Head of the Department.
Note that the date of decision is not necessarily the date when the studies start, for example if the student has not arrived to Sweden when the decision is made.
After admission
After admission, a decision is also taken on employment for those doctoral positions that has been advertised.

Next step of the admission process: individual study plan (ISP) and ISP seminar
The Higher Education Ordinance (UKÄ) states that each doctoral student at KI must have an individual study plan (ISP).
Within one month of the commencements of studies, the supervisor and doctoral student must submit a proposed individual study plan (ISP) to the doctoral educational administration at GPH. The ISP will be reviewed by the Director of Doctoral Education.
